Changing Colours…

December will mark my final month as our locals’ webmaster.

It is hard to believe that I have sat in this position for eleven years now, I feel both happy and sad. There is no denying that I will miss the interaction with my fellow union supporters but at the same time I am really looking forward to focusing more energy on my new role as a Grandpa. I really struggled with this decision, but in the end I knew it was time to move on and give someone else an opportunity to try their hand at this. The website was my comfort zone and over the years I really enjoyed developing and maintaining it, I am walking away from an old friend.

It was a blast and very rewarding for me, it forced me to learn new skills and apply myself in areas that were very foreign to me. You learn a lot about yourself when you push yourself out of your bubble, and this job did just that! There were times that I wanted to pull my hair out, but they were few and far between. Toy drives, canned food drives, women’s shelter, men’s shelter, boys and girls club, sports clubs, parades, Christmas parties… I could go on and on!

The time has come for this guy to hang it up; I hope to see all of you at a few general membership meetings in the near future to share some memories and continue to support our great local!

That’s it for now!

In Solidarity,
“the webmaster”
